You might remember my disgruntled social media posts from last year when we were all set to head over to Frankfurt to meet the brilliant minds behind BLUSUN in person. I was ready to see the magic happen up close, but the airline had other ideas.
However, if there is one thing I have learned in this business, it is that a missed flight cannot stop a great shoe. While I was stuck on the ground in the UK, the team in Germany and I kept the wheels turning. Today, I am absolutely chuffed to announce our official UK market entry partnership with BLUSUN, launching in the shop in early March 2026.
German Engineering Meets Portuguese Soul
I have actually been trialling a few pairs of BLUSUNs for months now. You know how I am: I won’t bring anything to the shop unless I have properly put it through its paces. The verdict? They are a total smash hit.
What makes them special is the “best of both worlds” approach. You have that meticulous German engineering in the design (think precision, durability, and a proper anatomical fit) combined with high quality Portuguese manufacturing. The result is a range of shoes that feels premium from the second you open the box.
We are launching with a curated range of their expertly crafted BLSN-200 model trainers. If you haven’t seen the BLSN-200W LEO yet, prepare to fall in love; it is stunning. We have a major consignment in transit as we speak, so keep an eye out for these landing in our UK warehouse very soon.
BarefootDan’s Verdict 👣
I wasn’t the only one putting these shoes to the test. BarefootDan has been living in his for a while now, and he has been giving me the lowdown on how they perform in real life.
He found that the fit is a solid medium on the width, making them a fantastic option for the average foot. He also noted that the toe box is a true Roman shape, which is a relief for those of us who need that square-shaped front! Here is what else he had to say:
“These are incredibly well crafted shoes. The ground feel and flexibility are spot on. I’ve been wearing the BLUSUN 60M Chelsea boots and they are so comfortable and roomy. What really impressed me is the nubuck leather and the wool felt innersole; they manage the internal temperature perfectly, keeping my feet just right. Plus, they are properly robust. I’ve been putting them through their paces with all my chores around the garden and house with ease.”
Let’s Talk Fit: The Egyptian Toe Box
Following on from BarefootDan’s thoughts, the BLUSUN shape is particularly well suited for a Egyptian toe box. If your feet are more square in shape, where your first three toes are a similar length, you are going to find these incredibly comfortable. They offer a beautiful anatomical silhouette without feeling like you have “clown feet.”
In terms of width and volume, I would place these right in the medium to average category. If you already get on well with the fit of Vivobarefoot, you are going to love these. They have that familiar, reliable feel but with that added German precision in the build quality.
No Border Drama: What is Coming Soon
One of the things I am most proud of with this partnership is how we are working to iron out those “Brexit blues.”
Once our first big consignment lands and we are fully up and running, we will be launching an incredibly smooth system for the UK. You will soon be able to buy the extended BLUSUN catalogue (the models we do not hold in local stock) with DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping. While this isn’t activated just yet, we are very hopeful to have it all in place for when the shoes officially launch on our site in early March.
This means the price you see on the website will be the total price you pay. No surprise tax bills or customs handling fees when the postie arrives at your door. Best of all, if those shoes ordered from Germany aren’t quite right, returns will come back to us here in the UK. We are handling the heavy lifting so you can shop with total peace of mind.
