Feelgrounds Chelsea Boots (All Black) Review

Overview:
The Feelgrounds Chelsea boots offer a combination of barefoot comfort and a timeless design. They are water-repellent, vegan, and perfect for those who prefer a classic look with all the benefits of barefoot footwear. The boots feature an anatomically shaped toe box, a zero-drop sole, and a stretchy, easy-to-slip-on design, making them a practical and stylish option for everyday wear.

Positive Aspects:
One of the standout features of these boots is their versatility. They can be dressed up or down, making them a solid choice for autumn. The black colour makes them a stylish, understated option, while the available colours offer variety for those seeking something different.

Fit-wise, the Chelsea boots do not disappoint. They accommodate a range of foot shapes and stretch well over wider feet, like my right foot with a tailor’s bunion. The cork insole adds a level of comfort, and while the sole is thicker than many minimal shoes, it retains a decent amount of flexibility and ground feel.

For those who appreciate vegan footwear, these are ideal. They provide an ethical option for maintaining foot health while ensuring comfort.

Neutral Observations:
While the boots are water-repellent, they aren’t fully waterproof. They perform well in light rain, but I haven’t tested them in more extreme conditions. This isn’t necessarily a downside, but it’s good to be mindful of how much exposure they can handle.
Negative Points:
Unfortunately, there is one key issue with these boots: the finger loop at the heel. While meant to make the boots easier to slip on, the right loop on my pair broke during the first use. It seems to have been glued rather than stitched, which is disappointing for a brand known for durability. I was able to fix it with glue, but it’s a concern for long-term wear. This is something that could easily be improved with better construction.

Final Thoughts:
Despite the minor design flaw with the finger loop, I really like these boots. The overall fit is great, they are comfortable for everyday wear, and they maintain that classic Chelsea boot style. For those looking for a vegan alternative, these are a solid option, especially if you’re after a boot that’s more on the chunky side. I do recommend them, but with the caveat that some improvements could be made in their design, particularly with the pull loop.
Best For:
- People who prefer a chunky, military-style boot
- Vegan shoppers seeking water-repellent, cruelty-free footwear
- Those looking for a boot that can be dressed up or down
While there’s room for improvement, these are still a great autumn boot and well worth considering if you’re a fan of the Chelsea boot style.
