One of the most common questions I get is:
“Have you reviewed the barefoot-style shoes available on Temu/ Shein/ AliExpress/ TikTok Shop or Amazon?”
The short answer is- yes, absolutely. While I don’t have time to do full blog reviews of every option, I regularly promote and share the best finds from Amazon and TikTok Shop, where I’m an affiliate and can sustainably support my work. You can explore my current favourites here:

So… are these ultra-budget shoes any good?
Surprisingly, yes! There are some genuinely excellent unbranded barefoot-style shoes coming direct from Chinese factories, many of which can be found across all five major online platforms: Temu, Shein, AliExpress, TikTok Shop, and Amazon.
While these shoes often go by different names or appear under multiple no-name listings, they’re usually the same product sold across different marketplaces, often manufactured in the same factories. One example is Hobibear, a budget-friendly brand with its own website, but whose basic barefoot models are also widely sold via these platforms.
Let’s talk ethics and transparency
It’s really important to acknowledge where these shoes come from. Buying directly from factories in China does raise ethical questions about transparency, fair wages, and manufacturing standards. I always encourage you to buy with awareness and make informed choices.
But I also recognise that barefoot shoes have historically been expensive, and these lower-cost options are bridging a gap for many, especially those on a tight budget, low income, or just trying out barefoot shoes for the first time without wanting to spend £80–£120 straight away. For some, this is the only accessible entry point into natural footwear, and I think it’s brilliant that we’re finally seeing that accessibility grow.
My top budget picks
There are two standout models that I see over and over again (and have personally tested):

- The Flyknit Mesh Barefoot Sneaker: Available in a wide range of colours like black, white, grey, red, and mint, this is your classic, breathable, flexible barefoot trainer. It ticks all the barefoot boxes- foot-shaped, flat, thin, and flexible. And, they hold up to wear and tear pretty well, too.

- The Wipe-Clean PVC Option: This is a fantastic budget choice for nurses, carers, teachers or anyone needing smart, black, easy-to-clean shoes for school or work. It’s not breathable, but it’s minimal, protective, and very practical.
Both styles can usually be found for £10–£40, in adult and children’s sizes.
If you’d like more entry-options on a budget for adults, you can see some alternative styles here.
Where to buy from?
While I do recommend Amazon above the others (mainly for their excellent customer service, easy returns, and fast shipping), you’re absolutely free to shop from Temu, Shein, AliExpress, or TikTok Shop at your own discretion. The shoes are often identical; the difference lies in customer protection and convenience.
